Error reading S7ReadResponse. Error code = 8104

Introduction:

Your Siemens Device is connected and you are now attempting to read in tag values. However the Siemen Tags are failing to subscribe values or are instead displaying the Bad_Stale quality.

In the Ignition Gateway Logs, you receive a ReadRequest error log returned from the Siemens device.

Resolution:

This error indicates that access to the address is not allowed. So there are a few things we can check:

1) Do the requested addresses exist?

2) With the Siemens S7-1200/1500, “Permit access with PUT/GET communication from remote partner” needs to be enabled.

Note: This change may require the hardware configuration to be recompiled and downloaded. Disabling "optimized access" for the data block(s) you are attempting to read may also help with the tag reads.
